In order to effectively protect the machine as a whole only by means of chamber measurements, it is necessary that sufficiently large rotor vibrations are faithfully transmitted to the bearing housing or casing or, in more special cases, to the location where the sensor is mounted. In addition, great care must be paid to the installation of the sensor. If not installed properly, it can lead to changes in the amplitude/frequency response of the sensor or to generate false signals that do not characterize the actual vibration of the machine.

In addition, pay more attention to the safety of the sensor, incorrect installation will lead! The performance of the sensor is degraded, or an unrealistic vibration signal is generated. This error is exacerbated if the grid calculates the integral as a displacement.

Bently Proximity Probe Housing Assemblies are available from Bently Nevada in all-metal proximity probe housing assemblies for external mounting of proximity probes: 21000 series, 31000 series, 330800 series.21000 Aluminum Probe Housing Assembly and 24701 Stainless Steel Probe Housing Assembly. These housings consist of a dome cap screwed into the housing, threaded ends for conduit connections, probe sleeves of optional lengths, O-rings, rear-facing eddy current probes, threaded seals, optional conduit fittings, and optional insulated adapters. The use of an eddy-current probe housing allows the user to access the proximity probe and its extension cable from the outside for gap adjustment or probe replacement without disassembling the machine and is rated explosion-proof in hazardous areas. The 21000 aluminum housing and 24701 stainless steel housing can be used in intrinsically safe applications. Both housings are certified as CSA Class 4 housings and are fully compliant with the API 670 standard for externally mounted eddy current probe housings.
